As an environmental scientist and lover of gourmet experiences, Advocate Arms delivered a delightful escape for me and my husband. We arrived, slightly skeptical of the exterior, but the interior surprised us with its classy décor and warm atmosphere. We opted for a superior king room which was impressively spacious and well-appointed, boasting a modern bathroom and, notably, a super comfy bed – a must for our much-needed night away. Dinner proved memorable; the restaurant boasts a fresh seasonal menu with ample portions. The scotch eggs starter paired perfectly with a rich tomato chutney, while my partner’s belly pork was exceptional. I did regret my choice of fish pie, overshadowed by the bold flavors of the pork. Desserts crowned our meal, with the sticky toffee pudding and creamy lemon tart standing out as highlights. Throughout, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, always ensuring our drinks were full. This vibrant yet relaxed setting, enhanced by innovative dishes, beckons me back for another culinary adventure in the future.
